- In 18 years of operations from Bucharest’s two airports, Wizz Air has proved its commitment to offering convenient air travel options to more than 50 mln passengers
- To mark the occasion and as a “Thank you!” for its passengers, the airline also launches an exclusive offer of up to 15% off for selected flights, available today only
Wizz Air, Romania’s largest airline, is proud to announce it has carried over 50 million passengers to and from Bucharest. This milestone comes after the airline announced last month its largest network expansion yet from the country for the 2025 winter season, with 13 more routes from Bucharest starting this year alone.
These developments underline the airline’s strong commitment to offering Romanian travellers affordable and high-quality air travel options. Since the launch of its operations in Bucharest in 2007, Wizz Air has firmly established its local presence and continuous growth. This autumn, a second aircraft will be added to the base at Băneasa Airport, enabling passengers to enjoy more flights to popular destinations in Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, and Greece, relocated to the city’s secondary airport after October 26th. Further growth will come from Bucharest Otopeni Airport as well, with new routes to cities including Brindisi and Pescara in Italy, Berlin and Cologne in Germany, or Bordeaux and Paris Orly in France, among others.
Over the last 18 years, Wizz Air has become a preferred choice for passengers seeking affordable smart fares paired with high quality services, underlining its commitment to the Romanian economy, tourism sector and aviation job market. To commemorate this important milestone, the lucky 50 millionth passenger, who travelled on a flight from Eindhoven to Bucharest Otopeni on September 30th, was welcomed on the apron and awarded a 200 EUR voucher valid for future Wizz Air flights.
As a “Thank you!” for its loyal passengers, Wizz Air offers exclusive discounts of up to 15% to selected flights connecting Romania to Europe. The promo is available today only, September 30th, on trips taken between October 7th - December 18th,2025, and January 5th - March 18th, 2026.
Anastasia Novak, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said: “Reaching 50 million passengers in Bucharest is a significant milestone that reflects both Wizz Air’s growth and the trust shown by travellers over the years.
