THE AIRLINE CONTINUES ITS STRONG EXPANSION IN LITHUANIA: NEW ROUTE TO ICELAND BEGINS ON 30 MARCH 2026, FOLLOWING MAJOR NETWORK GROWTH ANNOUNCEMENTS THROUGHOUT 2025
Wizz Air, the airline of choice for almost 13 million Lithuanian passengers, announces the launch of a new direct route connecting Vilnius with Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Starting from 30 March 2026, the service will connect Lithuania with one of the most unique destinations in Northern Europe, known for its dramatic landscapes, geothermal spas, and vibrant city life.
Reykjavík offers travellers a gateway to Iceland’s world-famous natural wonders: the Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle, black-sand beaches, volcanic craters, and breathtaking waterfalls. The compact, colourful capital is also a lively cultural hub filled with cosy cafés, museums, and buzzing nightlife.
Flights between Vilnius and Reykjavík will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, providing convenient travel options for both city breaks and longer adventures. Tickets are available from today at wizzair.com and through the official WIZZ app, with fares starting from €49.99.
“We are excited to introduce the Vilnius–Reykjavík route, bringing one of Europe’s most extraordinary destinations closer to Lithuanian travellers,” said Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air. “Iceland offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure, and we are proud to expand our network with another inspiring destination. This addition reflects once again our continuous commitment to Lithuania and our mission to provide affordable and convenient travel options across Europe.”
This new route follows Wizz Air’s series of expansion announcements throughout 2025. During a joint press conference with Lithuanian Airports earlier this year, the airline revealed plans to grow its operations in the country by launching seven new routes between December 2025 and June 2026, connecting Vilnius and Palanga with destinations such as Tallinn, Krakow, Tirana, Podgorica, Nice, Turku, and Oslo. In October, Wizz Air further strengthened its Lithuanian offering by announcing a new direct connection between Vilnius and Gdańsk, expanding travel options within the Baltic Sea region.
“We are very pleased that Wizz Air is restoring the regular route between Vilnius and Reykjavík, ensuring continuity on this connection and offering convenient travel opportunities for passengers planning trips to Iceland. Many travellers have already discovered Iceland as an excellent destination for exploration thanks to the availability of direct flights, and we believe that from next March even more passengers will take the opportunity to visit this remarkable country,” said Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports.
As part of this growth, Wizz Air will also allocate a third Airbus A321neo aircraft to its Vilnius base during Winter 2025, increasing capacity, creating additional jobs, and making Wizz Air the second-largest airline in Lithuania by market share – further underlining the airline’s long-term commitment to the Lithuanian market.
Wizz Air has been operating in Lithuania since 2005 and has already carried almost 13 million passengers to and from the country. The airline now offers 24 routes from the country, connecting Lithuanian passengers to 18 different countries and operating from 3 airports.
The launch of the Vilnius–Reykjavík route is also aligned with Wizz Air’s “Customer First Compass” initiative – a major three-year, €14 billion investment dedicated to improving the overall passenger experience across Product, Price, Service, and Communication.
