THE AIRLINE added 35 new routes THIS YEAR ALONE,
strengthening its presence in Spain and keeping Spanish travellers on the move
Wizz Air, the most environmentally sustainable airline*, reaffirms its commitment to Spanish customers by putting passengers at the heart of its growth strategy. Guided by its Customer First Compass, Wizz Air continues to expand its network and capacity in Spain, ensuring greater accessibility, affordable fares, and reliable services for millions of travellers who choose the airline every year.
Between March 2025 and March 2026, Wizz Air has already added almost 40 additional routes from 16 Spanish airports, with several already launched and others starting in the coming months. This expansion also brings the highest seat capacity ever deployed between Spain and Rome, where Wizz Air now stands as the leading carrier on the route.
In 2025, Wizz Air is offering 10 million seats from Spain, contributing to a historic total of nearly 50 million passengers carried to and from the country since the beginning of its operations more than 20 years ago. From January to August 2025, the airline operated more than 29,000 flights – 17.5% more than the same period in 2024 – welcoming 6.4 million passengers, up by 22.4% year-on-year. With a completion rate of 99.8% and a 16.6% improvement of the on-time performance rate, Wizz Air also continues to drive more and more Spanish passengers to travel across its network and also plays an important role in supporting the local economy and contributing to the growth of Spain’s tourism sector.
In addition, Wizz Air also continues to strengthen its presence in the Canary Islands, where it currently operates from Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura. With 15 routes to 10 destinations across 5 countries, the airline is providing more than 1 million seats to and from the islands in 2025. Since the start of operations, Wizz Air has carried over 3.5 million passengers from the Canary Islands - more than 600,000 in the past year alone - while increasing its operational capacity by more than 28% compared to the previous year (September 2024 – September 2025).
“Spain has been an integral part of Wizz Air’s journey for more than two decades, and we are here to stay,” said Silvia Mosquera, Commercial Offcier at Wizz Air. “Our continuous growth is a clear demonstration of our commitment to Spanish customers, who can rely on Wizz Air for affordable, reliable, and personalized travel across Europe.
