Wizz Air, Europe’s most environmentally sustainable* airline and the third largest airline in Italy, is excited to announce a new route between Alghero and Sofia, Bulgaria.
Starting from June 19, passengers will be able to fly between Sardinia's 'Little Barcelona' and the Bulgarian capital on two weekly frequencies, on Thursdays and Sundays. Tickets are already available for purchase on wizzair.com and through the official
WIZZ app, with fares starting at €35,99.
This new route strengthens connections between Italy and Eastern Europe, giving travellers the opportunity to discover Sofia, a city where ancient traditions and modern vitality coexist in perfect harmony. Rich in history, Sofia boasts Roman ruins, Byzantine
churches, and Ottoman influences, while its vibrant cultural scene offers art galleries, theatres, and a exciting nightlife. Nature lovers will also appreciate its thriving parks and the Vitosha Mountains – one of the symbols of Sofia –
perfect for hiking and winter sports. Additionally, Bulgarian cuisine, with its blend of Mediterranean and Eastern European flavours, is another great reason to visit.
At the same time, this new route further enhances the connectivity of Sardinia, an island famous for its crystal-clear waters, golden beaches, and picturesque historic towns. With this direct flight, Bulgarian travellers will have an easier way to explore
Alghero, known as ‘Little Barcelona’, and immerse themselves in this fascinating Mediterranean destination.
The flights will be operated with Airbus A321neo, the most efficient and sustainable aircraft in its class.
