THE
AIRLINE GROWS TO FIVE BASED AIRCRAFT AND EXPANDS ITS NETWORK WITH SIX NEW
ROUTES
Wizz Air, EMEA’s most environmentally sustainable airline*, proudly announces another historic milestone in Moldova by adding its fourth and fifth aircraft to the Chișinău base. With this bold expansion, Wizz Air secures its position as the absolute market leader in Moldova, offering passengers an unparalleled choice of destinations and travel opportunities.
The arrival of the two Airbus A320ceo aircraft in December 2025 and March 2026, will allow Wizz Air to introduce direct routes from Chișinău to Hamburg, Turin, Frankfurt Hahn, Nice, Prague and Copenhagen while also increasing frequencies on some of the most popular existing services, including Brussels, Larnaca, Bologna, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Dortmund, Memmingen and Verona. These additions will provide over 3 million seats for 2026, strengthening Moldova’s air connectivity with Europe and beyond.
Tickets for the new routes are already available on wizzair.com and the WIZZ mobile app, with fares starting from just €19.99.
Moldova Stronger Connected Than Ever Before
With the addition of the fourth and fifth aircraft, Wizz Air will now operate a total of 34 routes to 16 countries from Chișinău, its biggest route network ever from Moldova. Passengers will benefit from increased frequencies to key destinations, making it easier than ever to visit family, take business trips, or enjoy leisure travel across Europe.
József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air said: “Today marks a new chapter for Wizz Air in Moldova. By allocating two additional aircraft to our Chișinău base, we not only reaffirm our commitment to this market but also celebrate becoming the clear market leader in the country. After this allocation, Wizz Air is proud to connect Moldova with Europe and beyond, offering affordable fares, more destinations, and more jobs for local people. We are excited to see Moldovan travellers take advantage of these new opportunities. Let’s WIZZ!”
Prime Minister of Moldova, HE Mr. Dorin Recean said: “The decisions we made today bring us even closer to Europe. Our citizens will find it easier to travel, and the diaspora will have more opportunities to return home”.
Sergiu Spoiala, Director at Chisinau International Airport, said: "We are delighted to welcome Wizz Air’s fourth and fifth aircraft to Chișinău International Airport, that marks an important step towards our network expansion . What we see today demonstrates that our partnership goes beyond operating flights – it reflects a shared commitment to connecting the Republic of Moldova with more destinations across Europe and to creating new opportunities for our citizens and for the diaspora.”
Wizz Air’s expansion will also create 100 new local jobs for cabin and flight crew, while stimulating the wider Moldovan economy through tourism, trade, and business travel.
