Wizz Air, one of the leading airlines in Bulgaria, today announced the launch of a new direct route from Sofia to Rimini (Italy). Flights on the new route will start on March 31, 2026, and will operate three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, throughout the summer season. Tickets are already available and can be purchased at wizzair.com and on the airline's mobile app at prices starting from 48,99* BGN.
Rimini, located on the beautiful Adriatic coast, is one of Italy's most popular summer tourist destinations. Famous for its long sandy beaches, excellent cuisine, and picturesque ancient streets, the city offers a rich cultural heritage and iconic landmarks such as the Arch of Augustus, the Tiberius Bridge, and the historic center, which preserves the spirit of ancient Rome. Near the city is the Republic of San Marino, one of the oldest countries in the world, easily accessible for day trips. Rimini is a favorite destination for both family vacations and young travelers looking for a combination of relaxation and variety of entertainment.
With the new route to Rimini, Wizz Air continues to provide more opportunities for direct and affordable international travel for Bulgarian passengers, not only strengthening its leading position in Europe but also stimulating tourist exchange between Bulgaria and Italy.
“We are delighted to welcome Wizz Air’s new summer 2026 route to Rimini, marking the airline’s third announced destination for the upcoming season. This continued expansion reflects the strong partnership between Sofia’s airport and Wizz Air, as well as our shared commitment to offering passengers more choice and better connectivity. Rimini’s unique blend of culture, coastline, and hospitality makes it an exciting new option for Bulgarian travelers, and we look forward to a successful season together”, said Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, operator of Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia.
“We are delighted to add Rimini to our network from Bulgaria – a destination renowned for its unique atmosphere, culture, and excellent leisure facilities. This is the eighth new route we are introducing from Sofia this year. With each new expansion of our operations, we emphasize our commitment to providing passengers with an ever-richer choice of destinations and maximum travel convenience, while maintaining our commitment to affordable prices and reliable flight performance”, added Anastasia Novak, Corporate and Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
